I’m the mom of two lively children, one of whom was born with low muscle tone and significant developmental delays. When we first learned of our child’s special needs, we knew that early intervention was vital to helping him overcome his limitations. However, after weeks of scouring the Internet for information, I was frustrated by this haphazard and arbitrary approach to information gathering. A central source of help, resources, and doctors for special needs children in the Washington metropolitan region simply did not exist.
After years of compiling my own lists of resources for our son, I decided to consolidate all the information and make it available free to other parents and caregivers of children who have special needs. What began as a personal quest eight years ago to get the best care for our son, who has since conquered many of his challenges, has evolved into my local website, www.specialneedskidsinfo.com, for parents who have children with a wide range of special needs in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. The site lists doctors, specialists, therapists, educational consultants and advocates, places to buy adaptive equipment, therapeutic recreational activities, fitness, open gyms, respite care, support groups for parents and siblings, upcoming events, national resources, and more. My goal was simple: Streamline all the special needs information on the Internet for our area onto one site.
My dear friend Peggy recently introduced me to her aunt who was visiting the area on business. Rebecca is an Independent Distributor with the Shaklee Corp., the number one natural nutrition company in the US. She has been with the company for 30 of its 56 years.
I listened to her talk about Shaklee and its products. I knew that Peggy had recently become a Director in the company and I wanted to learn more about why she decided to get involved. Peggy has been a big advocate of my website, www.specialneedskidsinfo.com and told her aunt about it as well. Rebecca was very excited about my site and thought the Shaklee business would be a good complement to it. Raising her own children, she is aware of how difficult it can be to make sure that kids are getting the proper nutrition and vitamins. Having a child who has special needs makes it more important.
I asked her if she could send me parent testimonials on the products that I would be most likely to use. I was particularly interested in learning if there were testimonials from parents who have children with special needs and what their experience has been with these products, Shakleekids™ Incredivites™ Multivitamin/Multimineral Dietary Supplement and the Mighty Smart™ Supplement. I did my own research on the household products such as the Basic H2® Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate, Fresh Laundry Fragrance Free Concentrate HE Compatible and the Dish Washer Automatic Concentrate. I wanted to learn about these products because it's not uncommon for children with special needs to have sensitivity issues and allergies to household products. After talking with Rebecca and reading the testimonials, I knew that I wanted to become a part of this company so I could share the information with others and let them make their own informed decision. I have included the testimonials below. Before you read on, I would like to say that I am not a doctor or medical professional. Please ask your doctor before starting a new vitamin or supplement to your diet. If after reading the feedback, you would like to try some of these amazing products click on the shop button above, send me an email, firstname.lastname@example.org and I'll be happy to help you.
Thank you for your time and support. Please feel free to share this with others who might be interested.
From Director, Carmen Wainwritght, RN:
Jessie is a 9 year old with a learning disability. She has trouble focusing and reading. Many tests have proven she is not Autistic, Mentally Retarded or Aspergers Syndrome. She is just a little slow. When she draws a stick person she may have the arms coming out of the head or legs from the torso in the wrong place. That is just the way she sees it in her little mind. Then came Mighty Smart and Incredivites.
Her mom ordered on the first day it was available. Jessie was pumped up on her shipment of special vitamins just for her. She was so excited. Then the arrived on May 13th. She loved the way they tasted. It was her package. She started on them that day.
May 25th she was watching a cartoon educational show on the platypus. They demonstrated how to draw the animal. After the show she told her mom she was going to draw a platypus. She drew it perfectly!!! Her mom was so happy she said this one was for the refrigerator. She never had been able to draw like this before!
On May 26 Jessie as doing her reading. This is difficult for her. She was sounding out her words for her mom. Her focus seemed to much better than usual. Then she came to the word "look" which she did not sound out. Mom noticed she had not and asked her why she had not sounded it out. She replied "that was one of my spelling words from yesterday". Jessie has not been capable of having this memory before. Mom said she got tears in her eyes at this point. She states that Jessie is just a different child since the vitamins.
Mom anticipates Jessie will have a very improved reading capability by the beginning school year in August.
This is just the beginning of the life of Jessie and all the other children in the world who desperately need Mighty Smarts and Incredivites!!
This just in from Ann Mowry. The stories are so consistent; I think we want to share them with as many parents and grandparents as possible. Bob Ferguson, Master Coordinator
I received this email from Sharon and I wanted to share my experience with the Shaklee children's nutrition. My son who is 10 years old, was diagnosed with CAPD (central auditory processing disorder) and ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) this past summer. He was having difficulties in school (4th grade), his grades were dropping, and he also felt that his teacher did not like him. He did pass 4th grade and was promoted to fifth grade. During the summer between the two grades, I took him to a pediatric neurologist and a hearing center where he was diagnosed with these two problems. The first thing I was told was to put him on medication for the ADHD. This was not something I wanted for my son. After doing research, I found that adding protein, multiple vitamins, and the omegas to his diet should help.
I spoke with Sharon Wick who told me all about Shaklee. I started my son on Mighty Smart, Incredivites, and a protein shake every morning. After a few weeks with these additional supplements, I asked my son if he noticed any differences. He said, "Oh, Mom, I feel so much better and I can concentrate so much better!" My son is now bringing home A's and B's on his report card. I cannot thank Sharon and Shaklee enough for the changes that I have seen in my son!
I wanted to share this with you. Thank you again.
Shaklee Basic H2 Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate review
Natural and Nontoxic Cleaning Supplies that are Safe for You, Your Home, and Your Planet! @ShakleeHQ
I ordered the Shakleekids™ Incredivites™ Multivitamin/Multimineral Dietary Supplement and the Mighty Smart™ Supplement when I realized I was almost out of the store brand ones that I'd been buying. What I can say so far is that our youngest says he feels calmer and smarter since starting them and a recent Math test proves it. I've also notest he's able to concentrate longer on things like homework that he might not be that interested in or want to do, but are important. I've seen an improvement in his hand writing which has been illegible up to this point and his teacher has seen it too. The other night I noticed that the eczema that he has battled with since birth has cleared up. I can't tell you how many different products I've used to try and get rid of it. Our oldest also did well on two recent quizzes in Science that had been difficult the previous week. I'm sure the extra studying they did played a big part, but I truly believe these vitamins and supplements also benefited them as well. The Nutriferon supplement has also helped decrease our daughter's congestion in the morning with her seasonal allergies.
Since, I received my Gold Plus Pak I've started using the above products and love them. I have used the Basic H2 to clean the kitchen, bathrooms, wash mirrors and dust furniture. I really was amazed at how little product I had to use. Our dishwasher is over 10 years old and has not been cleaning as well as it used to. I was amazed how well the Dishwasher Automatic Concentrate cleaned especially the glasses, finally no spots! I even did a comparison test with my old brand and Shaklee's. Shaklee honestly cleaned the dishes and glasses better, period. I do a lot of laundry and the Fresh Laundry Fragrance Free Concentrate HE Compatible works great and gets out things like ink and pizza sauce. In addition, I like that I am measuring and using less liquid compared to the major brand I grew up using. I've never liked the touch of fabric sheets. Shaklee's Soft Fabric Fragrance Free Dryer Sheets feel like tissue paper and since they are biodegradable, I put them into the recycling can when the clothes are finished drying. I have also noted a big decrease in the amount of lint that I'm cleaning & tossing out.
My hope is to continue the conversation by updating this website with testimonials from parents and caregivers about the products. I hope after you’ve had the opportunity to try the products you’ll return to this site to share your own experiences with others.
With Warmest Regards,
Kate Moore Patton
